Project SURVIVE

The goal of Project SURVIVE is to end power abuse in relationships, social groups, and public institutions. Project SURVIVE is a peer education program run by the Women’s Studies department at City College of San Francisco.

During classroom presentations, peer educators suggest resources and provide information to students that can help them build healthy intimate relationships based on trust and respect. Materials provided during presentations include: rape prevention tips, resources, facts and statistics, cultural differences related to interpersonal violence, and much more. Students are also provided with strategies for identifying, avoiding, and ending abusive relationships.

Project SURVIVE also coordinates Expect Respect SF, a City College program and San Francisco community based organization collaborative, which delivers dating violence prevention and healthy relationship promotion presentations to ninth grade health education students in the San Francisco Unified School District.

The goal of Project SURVIVE is to end all forms of power abuse in relationships, social groups, and public institutions.

Since 1994, Project SURVIVE has served approximately 3,000 students each academic year by visiting about 200 classrooms.
