Food and Facilities
CCPHD's Environmental Public Health Division licenses and inspects food service establishments within Calhoun County. These establishments include restaurants, hospitals, college cafeterias, and mobile units.
One of the duties of the Environmental Public Health Division is to reduce the risk posed by food-borne diseases through an effective establishment inspection program and food service education & training.

Fixed Food Establishments
A fixed food service establishment is a facility that is a permanent location. This is an operation where food or drink is prepared for direct consumption through service on the premises or elsewhere, and any other eating or drinking establishment or operation where food is served or provided for the public. Fixed food establishments receive 2 inspections per year.
There was a decrease in the number of fixed food establishment inspections throughout 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of inspections began to increase in 2021 and returned to pre-pandemic levels throughout 2022.
Temporary Food Establishment Inspections
Temporary Food Establishments
A temporary food service establishment is a food service establishment which operates at a fixed location for a temporary period of time not to exceed two weeks.
The number of temporary food establishment inspections are the highest in the summer months due to an increase of community events and festivals.
