Children’s Special Health Care Services

Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) is a program within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). It is for children and some adults with special health care needs and their families to aid with health care needs and costs. CSHCS covers more than 2,700 medical diagnoses and conditions.

This figure represents the amount of money obtained through grants for CSHCS clients throughout the fiscal year (FY). Since FY2019, the amount of money secured has risen each year, with FY2021 seeing triple the amount raised in FY2019. The CSHCS program applies for grants to improve the quality of life for our clients. In previous years, grant money was used to purchase a wheelchair-compatible van and durable medical equipment that was not covered by insurance.
