GOAL: Adults in Calhoun County will utilize formal and informal support systems to avoid delinquent behavior
RATIONALE FOR CHOOSING INDICATOR: Crime affects the quality of life in a community. Conversely, a community’s capacity to develop and maintain strong systems of social relationships may positively impact the rates of crime and delinquency. It is critical that community members continue working together to achieve shared values and solve social problems. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Report defines violent crime as those crimes which involve force or threat, and includes the offenses of murder and negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. i The rate of violent crime in Calhoun County decreased from 2014 to 2015 (dropping from 669 to 639 per 100,000 population), and remained stable from 2015 to 2016.
